Gary Ward is a certificated and fully insured yoga teacher who believes in the teaching of āsana, prānāyāma and mantra as an effective way to transmit and engage in the practice of yoga. This is within the teachings and spirit of Śrī T. Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar as taught by Paul Harvey.

Gary came to yoga through curiosity in 2003. Although he had always had an interest in meditation and matters of the mind, until he picked up a yoga flyer from the floor he had never found a way to explore this interest.

His introduction to yoga was through the Mysore style (Aṣṭāṅga Vinyāsa), which he practiced under the guidance of Hamish Henry (Aṣṭāṅga London). From that point he began to explore the different systems of yoga and eventually came back to the teachings of Śrī T. Krishnamacharya through his long serving student Srivatsra Ramaswami and Paul Harvey.

Gary’s initial training was with Srivatsra Ramaswami.  He now studies consistently with Paul Harvey, a student of TKV Desikachar for 25 years. Paul is currently Gary’s one to one teacher. The process of practicing and studying under Paul’s guidance has greatly influenced his life and deepened his understanding of yoga in its many forms.  All of which he is most grateful.

"I cannot imagine my life without yoga. It is the tool I use to taste the deeper experiences life has to offer."
